World-renowned guitarist and songwriter Matty Simpson hails from Hamilton, Ontario. His sound has been described as an eclectic blend of rhythm and blues and rock. In addition to his own solo project as a singer-songwriter, Matty also plays with a variety of other musicians in the Hamilton region.
Matty has a taste for quality music that dates back to his early years. He grew up listening to a wide range of musical acts, including Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Kate Bush, and many others. As a child, Matty always had access to guitars and other exotic instruments thanks to his mother’s passion for traveling the world and his father’s love of music. His current songwriting style, which blends elements of music from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1990s with more contemporary sounds, has been greatly influenced by growing up in a musical environment.
